I have started a job as a Website Tester where my role includes UAT Testing – black box testing. I am the only tester here with around 6 developers. I am not a technical tester whatsoever. This is my first ever role and it has been over 6 months now. I have managed to learn some SQL (Joins, nothing too spectacular), how to use Redmine bug tracking system and basics of creating test scenarios and perform UAT testing.
I now have PDR review this week and I would like to request some professional training as I feel like i know nothing about technical stuff. I dont want dig too deep into technical testing but I could do with basics. What kind of things should i learn to ensure i can get as much coverage in testing as possible? I dont get time to teach my self a lot because I am working on a lot of projects at once. I would like to get some hands on training somewhere, or attend any seminars, etc. I would like to know what tools i can use, what is the best test case management tool (using spreadsheet right now!), researching into Test Case by Redmine and PraciTest. I want to know how to write better test cases, think of more testing scenarios but I feel out of place amongst all technical people. I would also want an automation tool but LeapTest seems better for me as it doesnt require programming? I need to tell my manager what training i want but no idea what do suggest!
What should i learn and what should i not?! i am so confused?
