From Frozone to Nick Furry A Samuel L. Jackson Interview #Incredibles2Event

Disney provided hotel and transportation to LA for us to attend the Incredibles 2 Press Junket. We were so very fortunate because we interviewed not only, Holly Hunter and Craig T. Nelson, but we also got to interview the one and only Samuel L. Jackson. Samuel L. Jackson plays Frozone in Incredibles, and let me start of by saying, seeing The Incredibles 2 made me love his character even more. I love the direction they took his character. I also love meeting Samuel L. Jackson. He is very funny, often sarcastic, and quite charming.

Things We Learned About Samuel L. Jackson

Demands action figures

During the interview we learned a few things about Samuel L. Jackson. We learned that he collects his own action figures. He said that after he did Jurassiac Park he sorta demands it now. He said he was the only character that didn’t get a figure made after him.

Relieved Incredibles 2 is done

He is also relieve that the Incredibles 2 has now been made because people in is feed would always ask him like it was his decision to be made. So a lot of pressure is gone and people can be happy.

Recommends Theater

He recommends that actors who are just starting out should do a lot of theater. He said they should move to New York and do as much as you can.

Challenge yourself. On stage or off Broadway on Broadway, work with as many different kinds of actors and directors as you can, learn the craft. Upstage downstage, stage right stage left, being dominant, being submissive on stage.

He said that you can learn a lot by the energy of the crowd. When they clap for you or laugh at you. It’s a great way to learn what works and what doesn’t work.

Loves Judge Judy

Also, we learned that being on a Movie set isn’t always as glamourous as one might think. He likes to watch lots of Judge shows in his down time.

when I’m on a movie set, because they’re on all day. So and I never miss Judy, because that’s my friend, Judy and I, me and Judy are like that. We like hanging out and have dinner together and stuff so I watch judge shows, I watch movies.

I read scripts when they come to me, because there are some actors who don’t read while they’re working because they’re in character and their characters are illiterate or something [LAUGHTER] And sometimes I’m working on the next thing. I’m reading the script that I have to go to next and making notes, because when I finish Captain Marvel on July sixth I got to be on another movie set on July eighth. So I got to start figuring out what I’m going to do for that movie already, so there’s stuff. And sometimes, you know, eat sandwiches.

Favorite Incredibles Character

Edna. Edna is just the dope-est, she’s just, you know, wise cool dry, unaffected by the world, you know. The world revolves around her.

Would Love a Frozone Spin-off

Oh I always like seeing a movie with myself in it [LAUGHTER] anything starring me is a good idea, so yeah.

His Super Power

His super power would be earning money for his wife and daughter and surviving 38 years of marriage.

Samuel L. Jackson’s Favorite Movie

The Long Kiss Goodnight

His Thoughts on Nick Furry

For one, he said that Nick Fury’s super power is persuasion. He talks people into doing all kinds of things. He’s currently on set playing Nick Furry and he said that’s he’s friends with Brie, they worked on Kong together. He said he’s having a lot of fun playing Nick Furry. He said his super power, his not Nick Furry’s should be dry ice because it would burn when you touch it. So he would be a bit in between the two characters, freeze but burn.

What did Samuel L. Jackson think of Incredibles 2?

In one word, he said the movie was Awesome.

Can we really do something that awesome and just a little bit more awesome the next time so it justifies us doing a sequel? And I think they accomplished it, you know, I mean the movie is kind of awesome……… and this dude gets to show off. Jack jack jack jack jack jack.

He talked a bit about Brad Bird as well. In his opinion, one of the reasons we had to wait so long for a new Incredibles 2 was because Brad Bird went of and made real people movies and that Pixar didn’t want just anyone making Incredibles 2. He also said that in the sound booth, you do all the acting with Brad Bird, unlike the first movie when he worked with Craig T. Nelson.

Brad is sitting over there in a corner and he’s reading stuff, you know, and actually Brad turns out to be pretty good. He pretty much tries to imitate everybody’s voice when we’re doing this stuff, you know, so and he is Edna, he’s the best character in the movie. So you know, it just becomes- I’ve only worked once with Craig in the room and that was in the first movie, first time we were in the studio together and I think that’s when they decided no we’re not going to put these guys together.
