So, for instance, if you have some budding entrepreneurs on your gift list this holiday season and want to do more than just give them an Amazon Gift Card, but show them some thoughtfulness with a book gift that would help them with their entrepreneurial journey and give them some reading pleasure and satisfaction, then read on. We present book gift ideas - from what to give in the early stages of their entrepreneural journey and then suggest some books for the “What do I do next?” stages.

How we came up with the method of choosing book ideas

I thought about how we can we come up with a rich source of recommended authors for books on entrepreneurship and social media marketing, then in our Twitter account I came across Brand24’s Top 100 Marketing Influencers 2017. The list is based on who is getting the most mentions on Twitter for 2017. I thought to myself, what better way to find authors on the subject than from the most mentioned marketing influencers on Twitter in 2017.

This is one in a series of articles where we are using crowd sourcing to offer up great gift ideas or to add to your own personal shopping list. So I took names from Brand24’s list and then explored Amazon for books that may be good choices for entrepreneurs to read.

I started with researching the influencer first quoted in the Brand24 e-book, John Rampton, and not only did I find a good book for that purpose, but a great first-book-to-read for someone considering to branch out on their own with their own business.

A good gift idea for new entrepreneurs

So the first thing budding entrepreneurs might ask themselves is whether they are even cut out to be self-employed. We have a book recommendation that can help you make that decision, Self-Employed: 50 Signs That You Might Be an Entrepreneur, by John Rampton and Joel Comm, who are both on the Brand24 top 100 Twitter influencers list.

Rampton's and Comm’s book builds the framework you need to make that big decision about whether to leave your job for the world of the self-employed.

“Times are changing, quickly,” said one Amazon review and, “This book puts you at the front of the freelance/self-employment revolution. I liked this book because it's fast action help and advice.”

One reader complained that the signs were two obvious, but most reader reviews were positive as one reviewer put it, “The beauty of "Self-Employed - 50 Signs You Might Be An Entrepreneur" is that it is based on reality. This isn't a book based on the authors' reading a textbook. It's based on their own personal observations, experience and the experience of many other entrepreneurs.”

Book gift ideas to keep entrepreneurs moving on their journeys

So I looked to Amazon’s “Frequently bought together” feature to come up with a good companion book for the budding entrepreneur. If you want to show your hopeful your book gift recipient will make the courageous decision to become or stay an entrepreneur, you can throw in, The Entrepreneurs Book of Actions: Essential Daily Exercises and Habits for Becoming Wealthier, Smarter, and More Successful, by Rhett Power into the gift package. It will guide them through the necessary daily steps towards entrepreneurial success. It is a book commonly bought with the previous book recommendation.

This book is about more than feel good exercises, it covers the broad range of actions needed to take one from hiring the right employees and keeping them mission focused, and of course to breaking the bad habits that will stand in the way of their success.

To give entrepreneurs the ever needed stream of inspiration needed to keep their enterprises going through all the obstacles, another book bought along side Rampton's and Comm’s book was Hal Elrod’s The Miracle Morning for Entrepreneurs: Elevate Your SELF to Elevate Your BUSINESS. This book earned 4.9 out of five stars from Amazon customers.

The book lays out six morning daily practices to 'fuel your efforts" and "create and sustain positive change in your life."

Over all, the readers found the book engaging and fairly simple to follow.

Gift ideas on books from the top Twitter marketing influencer

The next gift book recommendation comes from author and the most mentioned marketing influencer on Twitter, Gary Vaynerchuck. Eight years ago successful entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuck hit the world with his prescriptive book for those who wanted to turn their passions into successful businesses, Crush It!: Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion.

So for a loved one who has been pondering for a while whether to take the plunge into starting their own dream business, it would make sense that the most mentioned marketing influencer on Twitter would publish a book that could fill such a bill. The book offers budding business people a chance to learn how to take flight with the marketing opportunities available through the Internet.

Vaynerchuck’s Crush It! is the ultimate instruction manual for your friend or family member who has a hobby they are passionately devoted to or some obsession that keeps them up late at night, who would like to turn that into a devoted business pursuit and start on their journey to a rewarding life of making money from their passions.

A top customer reviewer, put it best by posing the question, “Is it fear, the unknown, where to begin, the troll voice that comes in your head and tells you that you cannot. How will you ever make a living out of your passions? Gary will share some thoughts and ideas how to crush it!”

More on books from Gary "Vee"

For Gary “Vee” fans or people looking to for an entertaining and informative read on marketing, #AskGaryVee: One Entrepreneur's Take on Leadership, Social Media, and Self-Awareness is a good choice. It is based on his popular podcast, #AskGaryVee. The book averaged 4.8 out of 5 stars from the Amazon customer reviewers. There were probably two reasons for his high ratings, as one reviewer put it he, “smacked my face in July 2014 with a paradox: Here is this guy that runs a REAL business with something like 400+ employees in Manhattan, and HE STARTED TO GIVE HIS ADVISE AWAY. That month, I started watching his new show "The #AskGaryVee Show" and he was giving away everything: I mean EVERYTHING.”

The reviewer went on to say that Vaynerchuk’s advice not only helped him to be a better business person, but “made me be a better husband and father; Gary made me be a harder worker; Gary made me stop doing stupid things that were actually harming me more than helping.”

So if you want to give a good fireside read - for the entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs-to-be, or for those who would appreciate informative and entertaining advise from a successful businessman on your list - this book would be it.

We have one last gift book pick from the most mentioned marketing influencer on Twitter.

As the title suggests, this book will help entrepreneurs who decided to get in the ring and fight their way to marketing success come up with a good jab and hook social media combination, Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook: How to Tell Your Story in a Noisy Social World by Gary Vaynerchuk.

The book came out in 2013, so in the fast moving world of social media some of the advice might be kind of dated as some reviewers pointed out. However the vast majority of the advice should still be holding true; and the theories and examples should stay evergreen for years to come.

A top customer review summed up the book's principles by saying, “The title is a boxing analogy: the jabs are the engaging posts you do that set the stage for the right hook – the sales pitch, the call to action.

“Vaynerchuk profiles five platforms in chapters: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and Tumblr, in that order. He also has a sixth chapter that briefly discusses others: LinkedIn, Google+, Vine, and Snapchat. He makes it easy to comprehend the culture of each, and how best to use each. For example, Tumblr is about cool animated GIFs; in using Twitter, think “DJing the news.” At the end of each chapter, he gives you real-world examples – the good, the bad, and the ugly.”

An invitation
