Dragon Ball Super: Broly out now in movie theaters across USA, Canada

The long anticipated English dub of Dragon Ball Super: Broly is officially out in 1,260 cinemas across the U.S. and Canada today (1/16/19).

The time is finally upon us, The Legendary Super Saiyan Broly makes his grand return in Dragon Ball Super: Broly, a chapter that marks the 20th film for the franchise. Check out DragonBallSuperOfficial.com to find out what theater locations are playing the film by you!

*There’s a “Where To Watch” search bar on the site below the movie poster graphic of Goku and Vegeta when you scroll down. You can enter your city and state or ZIP code there for local movie theaters playing the film.

It’s the franchise’s first movie under the Dragon Ball Super label, as Resurrection F still owned the iconic Dragon Ball Z moniker ahead of it. Dragon Ball Super: Broly builds upon the success Resurrection F established at the box office, which grossed $8.4M in North America, breaking records for the highest grossing event style theatrical release in the U.S.

Nobody ever forgot the Legendary Super Saiyan’s immense dislike of Goku and resulting chaotic rage. The Carnage of the Dragon Ball universe if you will. Broly despising Kakarot goes all the way back to the time two two were newborns, and Goku’s incessant crying was driving Broly up the wall. Mostly, Broly’s character’s design is just plain cool!

Everything about Broly spells unpredictable havoc and demeanor, no multi episode buildup necessary. From his overall move set including green light energy blasts (Eraser Cannon) / shields to raging lariats and smashing punches, Broly has always captivated an audience effortlessly. A Saiyan of few words really, his uttering of Kakarot and subsequent rage says everything you need to know.

Broly just owns the screen in every scene he’s in whether he’s battling Goku, Vegeta, Gohan or simply threatening to destroy the locals’ planet for a laugh. It’s one of those guilty pleasure, anarchy style leads that just works from minute 1 like Trevor Philips from Grand Theft Auto V.

Dragon Ball Super Film Trailer and Synopsis:

Destinies collide in a battle that will shake the universe to its very core!

Goku is back to training hard so he can face the most powerful foes the universes have to offer, and Vegeta is keeping up right beside him. But when they suddenly find themselves against an unknown Saiyan, they discover a terrible, destructive force.

Locked into battle with the formidable Broly, Goku and Vegeta face their most dangerous opponent yet!

Potential minor spoiler ahead for those who haven’t been keeping up with news on the film:

Not only is Broly back in the film trailer but so is Frieza and reportedly the one and only Raditz in flashbacks… The animation in the film trailer for Dragon Ball Super: Broly is simply beautiful, top level much like Resurrection F before it and even more aesthetic.

Dragon Ball Super english voice cast talks Broly film, Resurrection R for Raditz, voice acting

I personally had an opportunity to interview the Dragon Ball Super: Broly voice cast at last year’s New York Comic Con (2018)! My request for a Raditz comeback actually brought on voice actor Justin Cook (Raditz) to make a cameo and say, “Bring Raditz back! Resurrection R“, come on!”

The cast including Sean Schemmel (Goku), Jason Douglas (Beerus), Ian Sinclair (Whis), and Monica Rial (Bulma) spoke positively and mused about the possibility of a Resurrection R! For Raditz fans, a flashback in Dragon Ball Super: Broly is the first step in a comeback for Dragon Ball Z’s pioneer super villain.

One that for many early viewers of Cartoon Network’s Toonami opened up a world of anime they never knew existed prior. Where an antagonist turned the hero’s world upside down not just through acts of villainy but by revealing truth of his real origins.
