One of the most important among them is Indexing. Indexing is the term through which Google crawl and indexes your pages. It is the process of adding web pages in Google search. When you type a query on any search engine, web crawlers gather the information among no. of web pages and organize it in the search index. The crawling process begins with sitemaps and the list of website addresses from previous crawls. Crawlers visit these websites and useful links on these sites to discover new pages. It gives importance to new sites, changes in existing sites and dead links. The spider will continue to crawl from one site to another.

There are various tools available online which will tell you everything about your site. Google webmaster is one of them. They provide detailed information about everything that you need to know. For example, your website Google rank, How to process your pages on the sites, which pages of your site is indexed, etc.

The indexing of a webpage depends on various factors, such as:

• The frequency and relevance of keywords within the web pages: The keyword frequency refer how often a keyword appears on a given web page or within a web page and keyword frequency can have an impact on how discoverable your site or webpage is on any search engine or on Google website ranking. The keyword relevance is very important. You must understand how people are looking for your products, services you are offering or information you are providing, what keywords they are using? Etc.

• How long the web page has existed: You have to know the age of the website or age of the domain. There are many domain age checker tools available online. This factor affects to improve your website ranking.

• The other web pages that link to the recent page: The link popularity is very important. It is the measure and quality of links to your site. This factor is also very important for website ranking.

How ranking algorithm works?

For website ranking, we need to understand How does Google Algorithm Work for indexing?

The Ranking algorithm is used by Google search to rank your website in the search results. This algorithm was named after Larry Page, founder of Google. Page rank algorithm works by counting the number and quality of links to the page to calculate how important the website is.

The Ranking algorithm is very simple.

• The algorithm uses information on web page to find the ranking of each page with each link to a particular page working to increase the popularity of that individual page.
• This can be determined by using:
• The PageRank of web page A: PR(A)
• The Ti pages that link to page A: PR(Ti)
• The outbound link number on page Ti: C(Ti)
• The damping factor usually described as between 0 and 1: d

Where,

Page Ti is the weighted number that depends on the actual number of links that are considered as outbound links.

The damping factor is set between 0 to 1. This value is multiplied by the weighted PageRank calculation of all Ti pages.

All the above information resulted in the PageRank algorithm:

PR(A) = (1-d) + d(PR(T1)/C(T1)+ ….+PR(Tn)/C(Tn))
