A Good Site Take Off Needs a Good Landing

Tags: landing

So you have your website up and ready to go, your content is looking good and the design is working. What else do you need to really turn conversions for your website? Something for your users to land on! Also known as a Landing page.

A landing page is an opportunity to grab your users attention, and highlight an important call-to-action. The landing page should start with a five star headline, follow through with engaging content, and finish with a push. A landing page is a great opportunity to give a quick rundown of what your website is all about, and steer your users interest in a specific direction. Your landing page is your sites opportunity to persuade, get creative, and to get more users to interact with your content.

A Perfect Landing

You will likely need to have a different landing page for different campaigns that you are running. As in you’re probably not going to want your christmas landing page still up and running in the summertime. You will need to regularly update and create new landing pages. Although they will constantly be changing there are a few things that you should keep in mind when creating them.

Here are some must-haves for your landing page:

– Previously mentioned five star headline
– Supporting imagery or web content
– A few highlights of the product/service being offered
– Call to action
– Testimonials
– Social media links

The Objective

Think about what you’re hoping to accomplish through your landing page. Are you hoping to simply engage users further into your site? Or perhaps you have an e-newsletter that you want more of your consumers to sign up for. You could also want to make it stand out that your company is very easy to contact. All of these aspects can and should be highlighted on your landing page. However, there should only be one clear call-to-action per landing page, as to not overwhelm your user, and have them focusing on one thing at a time instead.
