Coming to PS4 today, Xbox One and PC soon.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 holiday event in Blackout and the Winter Calling event in Zombies officially begins today for PlayStation 4 players.
Referenced on the official Black Ops 4 Reddit, both seasonal events kicked off today on PS4, and will reportedly come next week for Xbox One and PC players. In Blackout, snowballs, holiday lighting and decorations, and holiday-themed supply stashes are available for some festive flavor.
In the spirit of the holidays, players on all platforms will be getting double XP in multiplayer and Zombies and double merits in Blackout all weekend long beginning December 14 at 10AM PT.
Treyarch also announced a new limited-time mode in Blackout called Close Quarters Frenzy, which is hitting all platforms from December 14-17 beginning 10AM PT. In it, you’ll “Fight to outlast a faster Collapse using close-quarters weapons – shotguns, SMGs, pistols, and melee are your only means of survival.”
A note was added about the PC 1.09 update that was released today. Because the studio has a dedicated team working on PC-exclusive options and features, they’re taking time to tune and test each update before it’s released – this explains why PC updates for the game may appear after console updates. However, Treyarch said it will always target a 24-hour window after a console update goes live for the PC update to do the same.
Announced as part of the Operation Absolute Zero holiday set of updates that began on December 11, the Blackout map has received seasonal changes, including wintery weather elements and a new yacht location called Hijacked appearing in the northwest waters of the map. It also received a new ARAV armored vehicle and multiplayer got its first new post-launch specialist, Zero.
Activision announced yesterday that a slew of Hollywood stars are lending their voice acting talents to Black Ops 4’s Zombies mode.
