50v50 – Fortnite Wiki Guide

Fortnite’s Battle Royale 50v50 introduces some simple changes to the formula of the popular Battle Royale, but results in some clever, drastic differences in the way that players interact with the game. You’ll find helpful tips and strategies to get started in Fortnite’s Battle Royale 50v50 on this page.

First announced for Fortnite at the Game Awards 2017, 50v50 is a limited time mode (for now), and will be playable until December 17.

Many of the shooting and building skills you’ve learned in the standard Battle Royale will help you in this new mode as well, but there are several key differences in 50v50 that everyone should keep in mind when playing.

50v50 shares many elements of regular Battle Royale, but there are a few new things to look out for, especially at the beginning of the game. Here are 13 tips to keep in mind when tackling Fortnite’s 50v50 mode.

Like the standard mode, 50v50 still has the Battle Bus take flight, as well as the same familiar map. You’ll be able to jump off and parachute down as normal, however unlike in the normal mode, since you have 49 other teammates, it’s to your benefit to find and group up with them. Many people flock to the larger areas, as there is plenty of loot for the whole team. Be warned however, that you will not know which players are teammates until they hit the ground and you see a small green arrow appear above their head. Stay in the air while those below you hit ground. Once you know the ratio of teammates to enemies, make your decision whether to land in town and outnumber the Enemy, or take refuge until you can group up with your team.

It still applies that when you land, you should head to the closest building if you see more teammates than enemies in the area. Initial enemy encounters are more rare, but will still happen. Therefore, keep an eye out for weapons, ammo, and other valuable resources and make sure to have at least 1 gun should a fight break out.

One of the most entertaining parts of this mode is the large amount of resources between 50 people. This inevitably leads to humongous over-the-top base building at some point during the round. With the large enemy group against you, building also gives cover should you need to push into an open field towards an enemy. Its imperative to have these structures, so break down everything you can for building materials.

A few handy tips to avoid mistakes we learned the hard way.

The quickest way to die in 50v50 is to have only you and your comrades fighting against 20 other players. Should you land in a town with a lot of enemy players, loot fast and use your regular Battle Royale skills to sneak out of there quickly and find your team.

Should you find yourself in a large team, try not to get too fragmented into smaller divisions as you push up on the enemy. One large exodus of players can usually outgun and quickly take out smaller units.

Unlike Battle Royale Standard, 50v50 doesn’t share its necessity for stealth and covert operations. You’re more than likely going to be seen when traveling with a pack of 20-40 people. If you’re not shooting at the enemy, start building walls and structures for your team to hide behind or cover your back to avoid getting flanked.

It’s easy when grouped up large numbers to forget one of the biggest foes is still the incoming storm pushing you towards enemy players. Keep an eye on that circle and lead the charge for your team if the group begins to get caught in frivolous looting or dogfighting.

Being outnumbered is the quickest way to get ganged up on and taken out by a large enemy group. Every player in this regard is precious, and can be revived by any other player within the group. Keep anyone you can alive as long as you can for your best chances of success.

Literally and figuratively. If you see an ally building up stairs into the sky, don’t follow them. They’re making an especially easy target for themselves and their teammates that can be shot down from hundreds of yards away, leaving them and everyone who followed to fall to their deaths. Don’t just assume they’ll be fast enough and have the skill to place down a Launch Pad before they get spotted!

On the other hand, if you see an enemy building into the sky, destroy its base with a few well-placed shots, a grenade, or rocket launcher, to send every enemy climbing up to the ground below! If they’re high enough, they’ll all get knocked down.

Once you get the basics down, try some of these more specific strategies.

This concept still applies—the higher up you are, the more you can see, and the easier it will be to spot enemies. This is especially important in 50v50 when you can see a swarm of people moving in the valley and can more easily pick them off.

Should you have an extra full med kit or blue juice stashed away for later, consider dropping it for the fellow teammate who has 30 health. Letting them heal up to have an extra shooter could be the difference in the final battle.

Build at your discretion. Should your team’s base already seem formidable, save your materials for the possible endgame fight down the road. Vice versa, if you notice your team moving with hardly any cover, think about building some sort of defense against a large enemy attack.
