Inspiration for the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

The Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus falls 19 days after Pentecost, which is seven weeks after Easter. We celebrate the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 23 this year. On this day, we focus our eyes on Jesus truly present in the Holy Eucharist and reflect on God’s unconditional love and boundless mercy as symbolized by His Heart.

“In the Heart of Jesus whoever is in anguish on account of the crosses of life can find peace; those afflicted by suffering and illness obtain relief; those in the grip of uncertainty and anxiety experience joy, because in Christ’s heart are depths of consolation and love for all who turn to Him with confidence.” — Pope St. John Paul II

“The Heart of Jesus pierced for love reminds us of the great chance each of us has to  receive the Body of Christ, His precious Blood, daily in the Eucharist.” — St.Teresa of Calcutta

“Do not ever lose heart when the tempest rages; place all your trust in the Heart of the most gentle Jesus. Pray and I might add, devoutly pester the divine Heart.” — St. Pio (Padre Pio) of Pietrelcina

“The Heart of Jesus is an open heart. Spend your time there… It is not an ordinary school… It is a school of Jesus where you come to learn. What have we to learn? To be meek and humble; if we are meek and humble we will learn to pray. If we learn to pray we will belong to Jesus. If we belong to Jesus we will learn to believe and if we believe we will learn to love and if we love we will learn to serve.” — St. Teresa of Calcutta

“Go to the Heart of Jesus and draw from it, and when you need more, go back to the Source and draw again.” — St. Madeleine Sophie Barat

“What would become of me if I did not dedicate all my affections to the Sacred Host? Oh yes, I know it Lord; that in order to make me deserve paradise in heaven, You give me Communion here on earth!” — St. Gemma Galgani

“The Sacred Heart of Christ is an inexhaustible fountain and its sole desire is to pour itself out into the hearts of the humble so as to free them and prepare them to lead lives according to his good pleasure.” – St. Margaret Mary Alacoque
