Shadow MPs Getting it Wrong Already

I am already fed up by most of the shadow aspiring Members of Parliament. Why? Because they are saying, "Vote for me and I will bring development here..." Is that really the work of a member of parliament? What about the Ward Councillor? It seems we have a long way to go indeed.

Doesn't the constitution state the following Functions and powers of the National Assembly for which these guys are to be members?

In Chapter 6, its says the National Assembly shall be a directly elected Chamber the primary purpose of which shall be legislative and which shall Assembly have power, subject to this Constitution, to -

a. receive, amend, accept or reject Government Bills and Private Bills; amend, accept or reject any Bills remitted from the Senate;
b. initiate Private Member's Bills on the motion of any member and amend, accept or reject all Private Member's Bills;

c. receive, amend, accept or reject any Bills remitted from the Senate;

d. debate and vote motions in relation to any matter including motions to indict and convict the President or Vice-President by impeachment;

e. exercise such other functions and powers as are conferred on it by this Constitution; and

f. take all actions incidental to and necessary for the proper exercise of its functions.

So why are these guys getting these lies about developing this and that? May be I am getting it wrong myself as a voter. Otherwise come on guys wake up and do something different. Read National Assembly literature, ask and listen to experts, and tell people the truth. Dwell on the real issues and educate your constituents about your potential roles as a Member of Parliament. Be different and offer something new. We cannot be going the same circles 20 years into the so-called democratic Malawi. I dare call some of these development speeches childish!
