August 20 – The Eclipse: Precision of God's Promises

“The Heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them.” Psalm 19: 1-3 (NIV)

Something is happening tomorrow that that was planned since the time of creation and we can depend on like a Promise.  It will not fail. Tomorrow the heavens will declare the majesty of God in a dramatic way.  In North America people will see a total Eclipse of the sun by the moon.  [It is projected that thousands of people have traveled to locations where the total eclipse can be experienced at its fullest.]  It is a good opportunity to remember and reflect who made this happen. Yes, God has created the sun and the moon and our earth and all heavenly bodies. It is not an accident that their movement through space brings about this “phenomena.” It was planned and with such precision that this eclipse happening is a promise. It has been predicted years in advance so that people can plan and travel to see it at its fullest, or enjoy it partially where if they are not in the path.  In the same way God gives us promises that we can apply to our lives every day.  What He has promised, He will do for all the people of the world.

Editor: This devotional was first written for a time and date in 1996 when there was an eclipse of the moon.  We have edited the content to reflect the same truths that the heavens continue to declare the glory of God.
