How to Sav(or) a Life: Being Salty Is A Good Thing

Tags: salt salty savor

Salt is good; but if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.” - Mark 9:50

Sometimes the way to Savor this life is to savor it.

Shelly, you're not making any sense.

Let me try again.

Do you take the time each and every day to really glory in what it means to be a Christian? Are you savoring the promise of salvation? Are you reveling in the peace that following Christ brings into your life?

O taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! - Psalm 34:8

Or are you bored with it all? Feeling humdrum about our awesome adoption? Tired of supposedly missing out on the fleshly fun the enemy uses to taunt you?

For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them. It has happened to them according to the true proverb, “A dog returns to its own vomit,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.” - 2 Peter 2:21-22

Have you lost your saltiness?

Every grain offering of yours, moreover, you shall season with salt, so that the salt of the covenant of your God shall not be lacking from your grain offering; with all your offerings you shall offer salt. - Leviticus 2:13

Let our love be seasoned with grace. Our speech be seasoned with love. Our thoughts be seasoned with moderation. Our actions be seasoned with patience.

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. - Romans 12:1

May our days be salted with prayer. May our nights be salted with song. May the pleasing and Salty aroma of our worship and praise lift continuously, O God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. - Galatians 5:22-23

Being salty is a good thing, not something to be tempered or hindered or hidden away. Let the Spirit shine through every aspect of your life.

And savor.

Dear Lord, we pray that we may be a pleasing and salty sacrifice to You, each and every moment of each and every day. Thank You for, well... everything. In Christ's Name, Amen...
