My tomorrow is greater than today

Memorise: “By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament” (Heb 7:22)

Read: Haggai 2:3-9

By Pastor Enoch Adeboye

“The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts” (Hag 2:9).

Whatever you are today, thank God: but the best is yet to come. As long as you remain in the Lord, your tomorrow will be better than today, because it is His nature to reserve the best for the last. At the marriage in Cana, Galilee, the Lord made this evident to everyone especially the chairman of the gathering.

The man said it is usual for people to give their best wine at the beginning and bring out the worst afterwards; but he was shocked that the best wine was brought after the worst (Jn 2:1-11). Whatever people think they have seen in you, they have seen nothing yet. Your best is yet to be revealed. Your best is coming out and there is nothing any body or demon can do about it, as long as you cooperate with the Lord Jesus Christ.

A look through scriptures confirms this nature of God. For instance, concerning covenants, the New Covenant was released as a better version of the old. Hebrews 8:6 says, “But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises”. Hebrews 8:6-7 says the first covenant was faulty hence the need for the second. God always keeps the best for the end.

One lesson here is that if God has found you to do a particular assignment for Him, do it with all your heart and make maximum profit for Him. Never give Him an opportunity to replace you because if you do, He will equip your replacement better than He equipped you, and the job will be better done than how you did it. Judas Iscariot had the opportunity of being an apostle of Jesus.

When he messed up, his replacement – Paul, achieved so much more. Although Judas was educated, Paul was far more; he even had a doctorate in law. He was mightily used of God to turn the world upside down for Jesus – a feat that none of the other apostles could achieve. Ask God not to replace you. Ask for grace to be faithful to the end. It is a dangerous thing to be dumped by the Most High. The Lord will not dump you. You will fulfil His purpose for your life in Jesus’ Name.

Father, let me never do what would make You to replace me.
