It's a Heart Thing: Heart's Desires

Tags: desire heart lord
Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. (Psalm 37:4-6)

Lately, I've been thinking about this question almost every single day: Do we think we are here to fulfill God's plans or that God is here to fulfill ours? I've been feeding into an inkling that when we "delight ourselves in the Lord" and "commit our ways to the Lord" the desires of our Heart, then come from Him; God then gives us a Desire for things according to what He's ordained for us to accomplish in the earth.

On the contrary, when it seems like we're doing all that we know to do, but the desires of our heart(s) are not being granted to us, maybe just maybe, it's because God is protecting us from things that are not a part of His perfect plan for our lives.

I have learned the very, very hard way, on several unfortunate occasions, that God does not work for me; I work for Him. To all my worship leader friends and counterparts, let us never become too busy doing God's work that we somehow forget to delight ourself in our Lord, getting close to Him so our thoughts can be aligned with His desires. In doing so, God's Word says He will grant us the desires of our hearts. Amen.
