Love and Be Loved

How do we do right by faith? Where do we go astray? When you think about the process of creation, of being formed in God's likeness and image, each of us are designed to be faithful, to take steps each and every day to grow closer to the Father, the Son, and the Spirit. Sin pulls us away, pulling at us piece by piece until at times it feels like it's impossible to put the puzzle back together. However, the part of us that reflects God most, our morals and values alongside our conscience for understanding right and wrong, help us to recognize areas where we need to make changes, to seek redemption and reconciliation. We are closest to God when receiving the Eucharist, remembering God's great act of Love, to restore us from our sins. Are you being pulled away from the person God's calling you to be?
Today's Psalm states: 'O LORD, thou hast searched me and known me! Thou knowest when I sit down and when I rise up; thou discernest my thoughts from afar. Thou searchest out my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend to heaven, thou art there! If I make my bed in Sheol, thou art there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there thy hand shall lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. For thou didst form my inward parts, thou didst knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise thee, for thou art fearful and wonderful. Wonderful are thy works! Thou knowest me right well' (Psalms 139:1-3, 7-10, 13-14).
Today's reading talks about God knit each of us together, unique and special, a reflection of His very image and likeness. We are made to be good, to share the goodness of the Gospel, of love, of Jesus' act if love on the cross. It can be very easy to fall and go down a path leading to sin, and feel like pulling ourselves back to that good place is impossible. God knows our every move, our every thought before we even make it, and knows very well that there will be temptations and trials that challenge us. However, God is always calling us back, to love and to be Loved, no matter what comes to pass. Take some time to reflect at mass over the weekend, and ask God to fit all of the pieces back togther, to help you be the best example of love.
Today we pray:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this new day, this new chance to take on the challenges of the world. Help me to love and be loved as You have loved each and every person throughout this gift of life.
I ask this in Your most holy name, Amen.
