Child-Like Nature

When are you most like a child? For me, that can be at any point in time where I feel at my most outgoing. This could be being extremely overtired and goofing around with my family, or kicking into my inner child when being around children. So many times we try to keep a 'professional manner' for our appearance, yet the one who seeks God most, who has the greatest pull towards faith is the child, the one who is constantly trying to learn, to understand, to seek meaning. So often the teacher becomes the student becomes the teacher. Have you embraced your inner child lately?
Today's Gospel states: 'At that time Jesus declared, "I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes; yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will. All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light"' (Matthew 11:25-30).
Today's reading talks about God has hidden things from the wise, yet we are to seek, to yearn for God, to seek His revelation. We often try to be the best, put on a stern face and think we know everything, and this is where we turn the wrong corner, going in the wrong direction. God asks us to become like children, accepting that we don't know everything, and embracing this philosophy daily. Only God knows everything, and we need to accept this, especially in the daily struggles of life. Take some time to give everything to God, and ask Him to help you embrace your inner child-like nature.
Today we pray:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of each day. Help me to follow You in all I do, with child-like wonder. Help me never to stop searching or yearning for Your love.
I ask this in Your most holy name, Amen.
