AFC Championship Game open thread: Jaguars at Patriots

Come watch (maybe) Matt Patricia’s final game as Patriots Defensive Coordinator.

It’s championship Sunday, and while the Lombardi Trophy won’t be awarded for another two weeks, it’s still one of the biggest days on the NFL schedule.

To kick off the festivities the Jacksonville Jaguars will take on the New England Patriots as huge underdogs. The narrative all week has surrounded Tom Brady and his injured hand. Reports are out now that he suffered a cut that required 10 stitches.

But Brady has already taken the field on Sunday and is not wearing the dreaded glove that cursed the end of the Matthew Stafford’s 2016 season. Per usual, this seems like a slightly overblown story surrounding New England.

The Jaguars have assumed the underdog status and are running with it. They don’t feel like they’re getting any respect, so they aren’t giving any back.

But for us Lions fans, we’re avoiding all that drama. We’re only interested in one thing here: Patricia-mania. Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia will become the next Lions head coach unless something wildly unexpected happens. So many Lions fans will be glued to their TV watching Patricia potentially coach his last game as a member of the Patriots staff.

So come watch football. We’ve only got three of these left in the 2017 season, so what else are you going to do on a cool January afternoon?
