Observations:

The very first thing that stood out to me was just how much the Lions tried out Keshawn Martin on offense. If I’m being completely honest, I barely remember seeing the Lions wide receiver out there. He only had one target thrown his way and it was incomplete. Interestingly, Martin didn’t get a single special teams snap. I don’t necessarily think this means anything other than the Lions were simply giving their other returners some in-game reps.

It was obviously good to see Theo Riddick and Cornelius Lucas out there for the first time this preseason. The Lions were careful with Riddick, but gave Lucas a big chunk of playing time on Friday.

Zach Zenner sat out of the game after apparently suffering a minor injury during pregame warmups.

Observations:

The Lions are clearly getting a very good look at their defensive rookies. For the second straight week, Jeremiah Ledbetter led all defensive tackles in snaps. Jarrad Davis and Jalen Reeves-Maybin led the way amongst linebackers. Teez Tabor was the next man up at corner after the starters were done.

I find it pretty odd that Jordan Hill, after a decent performance against the Jets, only saw three snaps on defense against the Patriots.

While Tavon Wilson got a huge chunk of playing time, his first for the preseason, Miles Killebrew was held out due to an undisclosed injury. In Killebrew’s place, Charles Washington stepped up and played for over half of the game. That’s probably not great news for Alex Carter, who is still in the midst of a transition from a cornerback.
