Notes: ESPN believes Rick Wagner chose the right team with Lions

One ESPN writer believes Rick Wagner is a great fit in Detroit.

  • ESPN’s Matt Bowen compiled a list of eight players he believed chose the right destination in free agency (Insider required). Among that list is new Detroit Lions right tackle, Rick Wagner. Here’s what Bowen had to say about the fit:

Keeping quarterback Matthew Stafford upright should always be a top priority for the Lions and their quick West Coast passing game. But we also have to look at how this move upgrades Detroit's dreadful running game. Last season, the Lions averaged only 81.9 rushing yards per game (30th in the NFL) and just 3.74 yards per carry (27th). With both Wagner and Lang now in the mix, it's time for Detroit to start moving people off the ball.

  • The Detroit News’ Justin Rogers released his second mock draft on Tuesday (Warning: Slideshow). The Lions landed Michigan’s Taco Charlton for the 21st overall pick.

  • We previously discussed whether the Lions should consider signing Adrian Peterson, but on Tuesday, The Lions Wire made a case for why Detroit should pass on him.

  • Rumors about the Lions’ new uniforms, set to be unveiled on April 13, are starting to emerge. But the Detroit Lions are shooting down unsubstantiated claims:

  • Freep’s Dave Birkett thinks the Lions should add at least another defensive tackle, despite adding two in free agency.
