Date Night #109: The Best Things to do This Week

Is it finally actually spring yet?! There’s a lot of rain going on, but I still have to keep wearing that Eddie Bauer jacket to keep from freezing. Let’s all hope for blue skies and enjoy some of the most fun and innovative events New York has to offer!

Fri 31: Feminist Goddesses & Rebel Saints

Catland, 987 Flushing Ave, Brooklyn, $10
Come celebrate feminism, women, and female energy at NYC’s premier spiritual supply hub.

Fri 31: Hypnotic Bar with Albert Nerenberg

The Alchemist’s Kitchen, 21 E 1st St, $20
I recently stopped drinking alcohol in non-social situations, mostly because I was worried it was getting excessive, but boy do I miss getting tipsy. If only I could get that effect by drinking my Soda Stream water… WAIT A BLOODY SECOND, THAT’S POSSIBLE?! Be amazed as hypnotists convince some lucky lushes that they’re getting high from H20.

Sat 1: Smorgasburg Williamsburg – Spring Opening Day

90 Kent Ave, Brooklyn, free
PRAISE ALLAH!!! IT’S BACK!!! It’s time to chomp your teeth on some sweet, sweet meats, beats, and treats! Head on down to what will hopefully be sunny Williamsburg and enjoy more than 100 vendors’ delights.

Sat 1: Cuban Screen Printing Drop-in

American History Museum, 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM, Free
Don’t you love a free event that also comes with a ~present?!~ As part of the ANHM’s Cuba exhibit, a renowned Cuban poster artist will teach a class on screen printing that includes an opportunity to make a poster of your own.

Sun 2: Drunk 24 – Fools Weekend

The Kymberle Project, 1332 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, 8:00 – 11:30 PM, $10
This evening promises laughter, theatre, dance, and booze. What more do you need, you greedy New Yorkers?! Playwrights are given a prompt that day, and come up with 6 brand-new plays for your diversion. There’s also a shot challenge, which I’m sure will be explained!

Sun 2: 10th annual Veggie Pride Parade NYC

42 Gansevoort St, 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Free
Are you a proud vegetarian?! Do you like vegetarians, wish you ate more vegetables, and hope to fall in love with someone who genuinely prefers the portobello option?! It’s a parade for you, my friends! Lace up your vegan boots and head on over!

Tues 4: Salsa On 2’sdays

Subrosa, 63 Gansevoort ST, 9:30 PM – 2:30 AM, $0 (♀)/$10(♂)

Thurs 6: Growth: Opening Reception

Usagi NY, 163 Plymouth St, Brooklyn, 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM, Free
Three internationally-exhibited artists present their take on organic forms and physicality. Be simultaneously attracted and repelled in a show that is an excellent opportunity to check out Usagi NY, a very cool art gallery/cafe.
