We arrived late yesterday night and set up our “office” in one of the Mantorp park buildings right in the middle of pit area. When we got into the room, there was one guy sleeping in the corner, but he did not even moved, so we just arranged all the furniture and went to sleep very fast. The way got us pretty tired, so we sank into dreams quickly trying to imagine everything that is ahead of us in the morning.
It is hard to express the feeling here, because you have to feel it on your own skin, to totally understand it. We would not exchange our “office” spot for a fancy hotel, just because of the rawness insight that you are able to get from being in the middle of everything. Wherever your gaze wander, there is a car, tires, people, Music, lights and party. (We could talk a lot about Norwegian and Swedish taste of music here, but that is a different story :D). And we are allowed to taste the essence of this juice fully. Even if it also means hearing crazy music until 3:00 AM.
If I would have to explain Gatebil it would be a very weird smell of burnt tires, sweets, some petrol, food and smoke. That is not going to be a fancy smell, but it is going to be something that burns in your memory and stay there forever.
First day is over and it went so quickly. As I wrote in the VO for the very first Gatebil movie we made (last years Rudskogen – Robyworks – GATEBIL OFFICIAL AFTERMOVIE 2018) it feels like coming home from a long trip to meet your family, and now this is the feeling that we get, when we see our friends here. Most of our organiser friends arrived today, and there is something special in them, that moves us.
Today was only a preparation and getting to know the track. “The meat” starts tomorrow, and we have A LOT to capture here. This is our Disneyland and this is our Tomorrowland and everything you can imagine in between. It is time to let my guys rest.
