Time magazine published an interview on its website in which the Marlins skipper said he “loved” Castro. “I respect Fidel Castro. You know why? A lot of people have wanted to kill Fidel Castro for the last 60 years, but that [expletive] is still here.”

What is all the fuss about anyway? He is the Manager of a Major League Baseball Team, not the Mayor of Miami.

I do understand that Florida has a large population of Cubans who fled the brutal regime of Fidel Castro as political refugees. I can understand why they would be mad at the comments made by Ozzie Guillen. However, does it really matter if he gets suspended for these comments? Will that change his opinion? I surely doubt it. It may (and I mean may) make him keep some thoughts to himself.That is about it.

I have followed Ozzie Guillen from his playing days to the current time. I saw him through the his days at the Chicago White Sox’s as a player and later a coach. If you could pick one thing about Ozzie Guillen was his Big Stupid Mouth. First of all, he is very hard to understand. I am not saying this to be mean. He is really hard to understand. Secondly, he consistently throws tirades. Third, he consistently inserts his foot into his mouth. What I am saying is this; The Florida Marlins knew exactly what they bought when they signed Ozzie Guillen. They thought his expertise outweighed the size of his…yes…big stupid mouth. It looks as if, at least for now, that they are wrong.

In another wrong prediction, the Florida Marlins thought that hiring Ozzie Guillen as manager would bring a new bevy of Hispanic Americans into the fold of Marlins fans. Let me give the Marlins a hint. You just do not bring Ozzie Guillen into a politically, and racially sensitive city and expect him to be the pillar or model to look up to. The way I see it, is that he is entitled to his opinion no matter how stupid it is.

I really do not care what Ozzie thinks about Fidel Castro, but if I was Cuban and living in Florida…I would be camping out at Marlin’s Park right now. Where’s my Mojito?
