Anti-gay Politician Will Serve a Minimum of 10 Years for Sex Trafficking a Teenage Boy.

Ralph Shortey was a State Senator from Oklahoma. As a Republican, he ran proudly as a ‘family values’ candidate — adding the usual homophobic vitriol to the stew. In the state Senate, he voted on the typical anti-gay nonsense, as well the standard anti-immigrant, pro-gun measures. So far a run-of-the-mill conservative in the Bible Belt.

He did achieve notoriety, however, for a bill he introduced in 2012 that would have banned the use of aborted fetuses in food. Because, apparently, that is a concern in Oklahoma. I kid. Even Sooner lawmakers realized that was nuts.

And that’s not the end of it. Shortey was married to his high-school sweetheart, with whom he fathered four daughters. But despite his moralistic rhetoric, he also lusted after teen boys. And not just in his heart.

This paragon of hypocritical sanctimony was busted in a Super 8 (cheap bastard) with a 17-year-old boy after the teen’s girlfriend followed him there and alerted his father — who called the police.

The purpose of the assignation was made clear by Shortey and the youth in messages exchanged on the app Kik:

Teen: “I need money for spring break.”

Shortey: “I don’t really have any legitimate things I need help with right now. Would you be interested in ‘sexual’ stuff?”

Teen: “Yes.”

And just in case there was any doubt as to the reason for the rendezvous, Shortey had an open pack of condoms on him and the teenager a bottle of lotion.

The evidence was so overwhelming that Shortey pled guilty to a child Sex Trafficking offense in exchange for prosecutors dropping three child pornography counts against him. We’ll never know what else the detestable Shortey was up to because further he:

“will not be further prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Oklahoma for any crimes related to his transportation, possession or production of child pornography or child sex trafficking during the period from October 2013 through March 9, 2017.”

Nevertheless, Shortey will serve a minimum of 10 years in jail — and still faces life. Thank God.
