NO MORE FUR: San Francisco’s latest progressive ban is yet another problem for businesses

What’s going on?
Breaking: San Francisco has found something new to ban! It’s now the largest U.S. city to ban sales of fur.
Liberal cities are bad for business …
The law, which goes into effect this January, applies not only to furriers but also to any businesses of any size that sell apparel or accessories trimmed with real fur. Retailers have until Jan. 1, 2020 to sell off their current inventory of furs.
Everything from performances by exotic animals to free toys in Happy Meals is already illegal in San Francisco, so Doc and Kris were mostly surprised that the city had anything left to ban when they talked about this story on today’s show.
“I cannot fight it,” Benjamin Lin, a 72-year-old small business owner, told the Associated Press. “I will not win. I do not have the energy and the money.”
Who supported this law?
“There’s no humane way to raise an animal to peel its skin off,” said Katy Tang, the city supervisor who pushed the bill.
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on Tuesday to approve the ban.
