Sourav Ganguly turns 47 today, the captain who has probably got more fans than any Indian captain has ever earned. The man whose retirement marks the end of a golden era in Indian cricket.
It has been many years since Dada retired but it always feels like he was playing yesterday. Especially the recent World Cup success of India is reminding us of the magnificent 2003 World Cup journey.

News channels, commentary box, pavilion, cricket field, expert opinion, there isn’t a single place related to cricket left, where Dada has not left his mark or if we may say, he’s still ruling the game of cricket.

But one of the best feelings we all cherish is during Ganguly’s retiring match against Australia. When MS Dhoni was the captain & he invited Ganguly to lead the side in the field for the final time.
And guess what? India defeated Australia at Nagpur.
Remembering the kind gesture of MS Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly recalled this moment in the talk show Breakfast with Champions. Narrating the incident, Sourav Ganguly said :
“I was surprised when he said that, I told him you continue but he insisted that I do it, we were going to win the match anyway it was a matter of a couple of overs. I had switched off by then, the fifth day of my last Test, it was the end but he said ‘aap kar lo‘. I captained for a couple of overs and handed it back to him.”

It was Sourav Ganguly who gave MS Dhoni first-ever chance and this is how MS Dhoni’s way of respecting Sourav Ganguly.
Even after all these years, this moment still remains as one of the most nostalgic moments for all the cricket fans.
