State Govt completes 2 years in office

Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that the State Government had completed two years in office. During this time, the state government had ensured transparency and affixed responsibility to facilitate good governance.

Rawat said that prime minister Narendra Modi has a special connection with Uttarakhand which is why he has visited the state seven times since becoming the PM. For the development of the state, he didn’t give only assurances but also lent concrete shape to them.

Referring to the speech of Congress national president Rahul Gandhi in Dehradun recently, Rawat said that it seems he had forgotten even basic civility. His using abusive words for the prime minister displays his political immaturity.

Regarding his two years in office so far, Rawat said that the state government had worked on swift redressal of public grievances through good governance. Further, the state had progressed considerably on the path of development. The chief minister said that during these two years about 2.5 lakh youth had been provided employment through government jobs, outsourcing, contract and in the private sector. “When we had assumed office, corruption in the state was a major challenge facing us. This is why we adopted the prime minister’s mantra of zero tolerance for corruption. Strict steps were taken in scams pertaining to national highway 74, scholarship scam in social welfare department and scams in various departments. Whereas transfer posting was almost an industry in the state, we brought in the Transfer Act to put an end to this. I assure the people that our government will not make any compromise with corruption.

We all have to fight together against corruption, only then will we be able to keep our future secure,” he said. Referring to measures taken in the health sector he said that taking inspiration from the Ayushman Bharat Yojana of the Union Government, the State had launched Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojaya to provide free health cover of upto Rs five lakh to every family in the state. So far about Rs 13 crore has been spent on facilitating free treatment to about 14,000 persons under this scheme, said Rawat. Similarly, 2,160 persons have taken the benefit of Ayushman Bharat Yojana in the state so far. Due to lack of political will about Rs 40,000 crore was invested during past 17 years in Uttarakhand whereas MoUs worth Rs 1,20,000 crore were signed in the investors summit held last year. Work on projects worth Rs 13,000 crore has started while projects worth Rs 20,000 crore will be on the ground by the end of this year which will provide major employment opportunities and facilitate development. Major infrastructure development projects are also underway in the state including Rs 12,000 crore all-weather road project, Rs 12,000 crore Bharat Mala project, Rs 16,000 crore Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project and other works.

Citing the various works done by the State government in the past two years, Rawat said that the government had moved ahead towards building a prosperous Uttarakhand.
