Mazda has always had a keen eye on creating cars with the perfect blend of practical and sporty influences, and the 2017 Mazda CX-5 GT is no exception.

A crossover with a sense of freshness and refinement is definitely what the 2017 Mazda CX-5 GT brings to the table. Inspiration and design elements for the CX-5 come from its larger sibling, the Mazda CX-9.

2017 Mazda CX-5 GT Styling

The front fascia on the 2017 Mazda CX-5 GT features a prominent pentagonal grille with a chrome edge around it, very sleek LED headlights that are now a slimmer shape than before, and a very aggressive and contoured front bumper.

On the new Mazda CX-5, you’ll notice a much more sharpened side profile. This comes from a lower belt line and the new character line that flows from the front fenders all the way back to the rear doors.

The rear of the vehicle also looks good, and this in part is thanks to the fantastic new tail lamp clusters.

Attention to Detail

Mazda apparently put a ton of effort into redesigning certain aspects of the car. The door handles alone had a dedicated group working on them, analyzing the way people use them, so that they could be designed to have a better and more comfortable grip.

It’s hard to deny the fact that the 2017 Mazda CX-5 GT is one good-looking crossover. The way Mazda has done the styling on the exterior goes above and beyond average in all aspects.

Mazda CX-5 GT 2017 Specs

At the front end of this range-topping GT trim level of the new CX-5 is Mazda’s 2.5 liter, 4 cylinder engine that features the company’s SkyActiv technology. Even this feature has been enhanced to deliver a quicker throttle response time than before. Buyers of this version can choose between front wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

The engine puts out 187 hp and 250 Nm of torque but, it still manages to return 24/30.55mpg (city/highway) in its 2WD guise and 23/28.34mpg (city/highway) in its 4WD avatar.

2017 Mazda CX-5 GT Gadgets & Gizmos

Mazda pulled out all the stops when it came to kitting the 2017 Mazda CX-5 GT out, and as a result, this crossover comes with a Bose sound system with 10 speakers, a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat with memory, a 6-way power adjustable passenger seat, a powered tailgate, dual zone automatic climate control with dedicated rear vents, a sunroof, HomeLink control system, rain-sensing wipers, heated seats and steering wheel, a navigation module and 19 inch alloys, amongst others.

When it comes to safety, you get multiple airbags, adaptive headlights, radar cruise control, lane departure warning system, ABS, traffic sign recognition, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, a head-up display and forward obstruction warning.

On the whole, Mazda has done an excellent job with the new CX-5 GT. This is a crossover that brings along everything that its target buyers would want in a vehicle such as this, and wraps it all up in brilliant Japanese quality and reliability.
