Ikväll var jag vid ankdammen för att titta till gräsänderna. Dammen har rengjorts så de hade stängt av vattnet för att kunna rengöra bottnen. I två dagar fanns det inget vatten i dammen och igår såg jag inte till någon av gräsänderna. Men ikväll simmade de omkring i den rengjorda dammen. Ungarna har troligtvis gömt sig i vassen. Nu finns det heller inget att äta på bottnen av dammen då även all växtlighet som funnits i dammen är borta.

Desto viktigare är det att mata ungarna, men det finns även andra som är snälla och matar dem. Ungarna har växt mycket på den här tiden, de är snart tre veckor gamla. En av ungarna är betydligt mindre än de övriga men det beror nog inte på att han inte fått mat. Dammen är tvådelad med en bro mellan dammarna, och de övernattar i den övre dammen som de gick till efter en stund. Bildspel längst ner på sidan.

Tonight I was at the duck pond to watch the mallards. The pond has been cleaned so they had turned off the water in order to clean the bottom. For two days there was no water in the pond and yesterday I did not see any of the mallards. But tonight they swam around in the cleaned pond. The chicks was probably hiding in the reeds. Now there is nothing to eat at the bottom of the pond as all the vegetation that has been found in the pond is gone.

The more important it is to feed the kids, but there are also others who are kind and feeds them. The chicks have grown much at this time, they’re almost three weeks old. One of the chicks is significantly smaller than the rest, but it is probably not because he did not get food. The pond is in two parts with a bridge between the ponds, and they spend the night in the upper pond that they went to after a while. Slideshow at the bottom of the page.
