The Best Size of Artwork for an Office

So you've got a brand new Office space at work.  Congratulations.  Now you need to decorate it and make it look more like you.  You need wall art obviously but how big?  You've probably never thought about that before.  I know I hadn't until recently myself.  That's what we're talking about today.

Choose art in a size which will reflect the best professional you possible.
Decorating your office is about putting forth a vibe which is both professional and also reflects you at the same time.  It can be more of a challenge than other kinds of decoration.  Central to office decoration is what you hang on the walls.

Now obviously, office spaces are different in size just as homes are different in size.  The bigger the office, the more wall space you have to work with.  However, those large office spaces usually come with really big paychecks.  This means that most of you won't have an office the size of a large living room or meeting room.

Your office is probably big enough for your desk and chair, a couple of chairs for clients, and perhaps a bookshelf or two for professional reference materials.  Your wall space will be roughly equivalent to that of a medium-sized bathroom.  Thanks to this, we can easily predict what size of wall art will probably work out best for your professional space.

We recommend that you look at the sizes of 12x18 inches.  If you want something bigger to be more of a statement piece, don't go bigger than about 16x20 or 16x24 inches.  Thanks to the size of the matting and frame, the picture will be much larger on the wall than it sounds.

  • The photo on the left (top) is about as large as you would want to go for an office space.  It's 16x24 inches.  The right (bottom) photo is 12x18 inches and much more suitable to the wall size in office spaces.

If you get a 12x18 sized picture, you will probably have about 2 to 3 inches of mat on both sides and the same amount of frame as well.  This means that your total size ends up being 20x26 inches, on the small end, to as much as 24x30 inches.  That's almost 2 feet tall on the small end and almost 3 feet wide on the large end.  It really is a lot bigger than it sounds initially.  It is also plenty big enough for your wall without being overpowering.

If you're looking for artwork for your office wall, we offer prints in all the sizes listed here (12x18, 16x20, and 16x24).  Head over to our online store where you can order a copy of our beautiful landscape photography for your office today.
