This amazing cloudscape view is one of those shots were I wasn't hunting for it at all. I had brought my camera with me on other business and ended up being glad that I had it with me when the time came.
I was across the street from this open farm field concluding my business when the light and the clouds were perfect for the shot. I pulled out my camera and got to work.
I didn't want to be trespassing on this person's land so I stayed on the side of the road. I took several different angles of this pivot line to try and get the clouds where I wanted them and have the irrigation equipment provide interest in the foreground. Making it stretch most of the length of the photo was a bit of a trick.
I wasn't the only person who was interested in this amazing sight. I spotted another photographer, probably an amateur or a student, who was also taking shots of this view. He had a different angle than I was going for as it looked like he was shooting down the line instead of capturing the side of the line like I was.
After sorting and processing through my shots from that day, I couldn't believe the shapes in the clouds. I couldn't believe the width and depth of color which I was seeing. It truly was an amazing stroke of luck that day which, thankfully, I was prepared for.
