Ramapo Valley County Reservation

Ramapo Valley County Reservation

Three of our favorite park settings to photograph at, is the Ramapo Valley County Reservation. It is also known as the Ramapo Reservation and the Skyland Manor at the New Jersey Botanical Gardens as well as the Eston Tower in Paramus. The Ramapo Reservation is a 4000+acre county park located in Mahwah, New Jersey in bergen county. It borders ringwood state park to the north and the Ramapo Mountain State forest to the south. At the reservation we can photograph along treed paths, hiking along a mountain brook to photograph by the waterfall and scarlet oak pond. This park may be only 20 minutes from New York City! But, you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere! Skyland manor at the New Jersey Botanical Gardens is a garden for all seasons and all the right reasons! This place is great to photograph couples at matter what the time of year!

The Story of Clarence Mckenzie

Photograph in the garden path in summer, make use of the bright foliage of autumn, enjoy the quiet solitude of winter. Our couples enjoy the variety that the area offers from the gardens to taking photos around historic Skylands Manor, a tudor revival manor built by Clarence Mckenzie lewis in the mid-1920s the castle offer some great vista views. Other areas we like to photograph at is the east side of the manor house begins the terrace garden, a series of five terraces, each with its unique essence. The first terrace features an octagonal pool with a swan fountain adding some great background for the photo. Easton tower is a unique site in bergen county.

History of Ramapo Valley County Reservation

This picturesque stone and wood frame structure was built along the saddle river in 1900 as part of a landscaped park in the Arcola Area of Paramus. The mill also know to a haunted site, strange noises are heard by neighbors coming from the building after nightfall.  For many years, the setting of the red mill, with its two dams, bridge, and stream, made it a favorite place for us to photograph our couples. in all the time we have been photographing there we have not experienced any phenomenon only great photos. So if you are looking to do an engagement session that offers a wide variety of looks in the same location, you can not go wrong with doing an engagement session with David Eric photography.
