Yorkshire Wedding Photographers

Jo and Nick are really good friends with a few of our former couples and we were super excited to hear that not only were they all going to be in attendance but a former groom (also a Joe) was going to be giving a reading during the ceremony. Being a York wedding photographer is such a special job – we get to work with people on one of the happiest days of their lives and after sharing in all the emotions and fun we always feel super attached to our couples. We love meeting up with clients after the day (especially when they have new babies in tow) and Jo and Nick’s wedding sounded like so much fun – almost like a super-awesome family reunion. We couldn’t wait to see everyone again and to get some really cool Bell Hall Wedding photography!

The wedding shindigs got off to a flying start – Jaye met up with nervously, excited Jo for Bride prep, while I (Matt) met up with Nick at his parent’s house. Jo and Nick had both chosen to get ready at their parent’s homes which I just love as it adds so many fantastically personal touches into the background of photographs – pictures of them as children, family pets etc. Photographing in family homes you really get a sense of the wedding day fitting seamlessly into the narrative of events that create a family’s history. In Jo’s case, her mum had really gone the extra mile and had decorated the spare bedroom entirely in the wedding colours! Nick was in a fantastic mood all morning and after a little help from dad with his tie, we made our way over to Bell Hall.

The sun was shining as Nick and Jo got married in a beautiful outside ceremony at Bell Hall. A harpist provided music and it wasn’t long before a furiously smiling and freshly married Nick & Jo were walking back down the aisle and out through a tunnel of confetti.

While the guests enjoyed drinks, canapés and some superb close-up magic (courtesy of the fantastically talented and all round lovely guy – Mark Waddington) we whisked Jo and Nick off for some photos. There are so many fantastic places at Bell Hall for really awesome Bell Hall wedding photography and Jo’s rose bouquet was perfectly matched with the roses of the formal gardens.

York wedding photography is just perfect for warm summer days and Jo and Nick couldn’t have asked for better weather! The sunshine and happy occasion soon had everyone super relaxed and just intent on really having fun. Being a York wedding photographer sure is easy when so many happy, smiling people surround you!

I love how inventive people can be and the fantastic and creative ideas that our couples have for their wedding favours. Although, if there was a competition for awesome wedding favours I think Jo and Nick may just have won it hands down – Jo and Nick work for Nestle and as a special run just for their wedding they had packets of Rolo’s produced that featured their surname! A winning combination of not only a super-cool & original idea but also chocolate!

After the speeches and some beautiful, sunset photographs everyone was ready for some serious dance floor action. To set the tone, Nick & Jo surprised their guests with an awesome choreographed first dance and then it was time for everyone to join in and dance the night away. The perfect end to a perfect day of York wedding photography.

Nick & Jo, you rocked it!

Make sure to check out their wedding highlights film at the end of the post.
