What is it about cats and the sun? I walked into our Dining room today to find five of ours trying to squeeze into a couple of small bright patches that had miraculously appeared on the carpet. A bit like moths drawn to a flame, they can’t seem to resist the urge to toast themselves at every opportunity. Our Devon Rex, Gremlin, has a different slant on this as he prefers to flirt with spontaneous combustion by perching directly behind the Aga. In a desperate attempt to persuade him this really wasn’t a good idea, we’ve had to move his current favourite bed into the little alcove. Just beside where the kettle resides and nestled up to the back of the microwave. It’s the third Cat bed to take pride of place in the kitchen. Heaven only knows what visitors think of us…

So here was Buddy from Bulgaria the other day, caught by a sunbeam on the dining room floor. All our furniture was thrown out long ago to make room for litter trays, beds and a giant scratching post. Sometimes though, all they need is a small patch of sun.
