There are no official guidelines on how much CBD to give to a cat, and different products contain different concentrations of CBD. So, if you are unsure how to properly dose your cat then please read on. Here are some important guidelines to follow on CBD oil dosages for cats.

A good starting point would be 2mg for every 10lbs of body weight administered once to twice a day or as needed. If you aren’t satisfied with your results then slowly increase the dosage by an increase of 1 mg every week until satisfied. We recommend to not to go over the maximum of  5mg for every 10lbs of body weight. 5mg for every 10lbs of body weight would be at the high end of our recommended CBD dosage levels for pets.

If you end up giving your cat more then the recommended dosages mentioned above then don’t panic. CBD is considered safe to use. There is no known toxic dose of CBD and there have been no reports of any people or animals overdosing on CBD. There are very few known side effects of using CBD on pets.

How Much CBD Oil Should I Give My Cat?

Whichever method of delivery you choose, you should start off with low doses of CBD indicated above. Then, increase the dosage gradually, while monitoring the effects the CBD has on your cat.

Different cats will react differently to CBD. Just as different people react differently to supplements. If the guidance provided with the CBD product that you purchased is unclear, you should do the math to figure out how much CBD to give your cat by using our recommended dosage above.

How Often Should I Give My Cat CBD?

Once you have decided how much CBD to give your cat, it is usual to administer the CBD in two daily doses. Like all supplements, keeping the dosage consistent will have more effect over time than infrequent doses.

Depending on the ailment being treated, CBD may take time to have an effect. It is advisable not to become impatient and increase the dosage too soon. This is especially important when you are using CBD infused cat treats, because it is very easy to feed a cat too many treats as they might always cry for more.

CBD is non-toxic and there are no records of any person or pet ever overdosing on CBD. As with all supplements, there is a point at which any additional CBD will have no further beneficial effect.
