Finding Fergie

This rescue story takes place in Tijuana and it's one that nearly made our hearts stop when we were told what happened. In the world of rescue our hearts drop to our stomach when we see a box or bag on the side of the road because we know there is always a possibility that in it is an innocent life hoping to be saved. Knowing that is a possibility doesn't make it less shocking and sickening when it does happen. For the person that contacted us about this Family--that was the case.

He had told us that a family neighboring him had owned a dog that had given birth to a litter of Puppies. The family were moving and decided that not only were they going to throw out the mama who was just a puppy herself but they were also going to bag the puppies and throw them out with the rest of the trash!

The mother pup was found with a chain around her neck dehydrated and emaciated. What's worse is that the chain around her neck was so tight and already embedded in some areas making even swallowing difficult! She also had an eye infection that was so dirty with so much discharge and a parasite infection, and mange, and all the while she is still lactating.

Luckily with the neighbor saving the puppies, we then had to catch the mama pup. Only a couple of days ago were they able to catch the mom on the street and of course we couldn't say no to the mama as the transport was leaving and we had to make a decision immediately to take on the entire family. The cruelty and inhumanity of what we were told was enough for us to have decide we had to take a course of action in taking the entire family on.

Upon arrival to California we immediately took the mama pup to grooming at Bubbles Dog Grooming and Spa for a complimentary luxury spa and ear treatment and then immediately rushed to gateway Animal Hospital. We named her Fergie and she's gone through so much in her life as a young dog caring for her puppies in a very fearful world. Today she is loving life with her family in her forever home!
