Five Simple Easyjet Cheats

If your thoughts are turning towards picking up a great deal for a well-deserved summer holiday, the right timing can make all the difference when it comes to price. If you time it right and know some of the tricks it’s possible to make the most of genuine Easyjet bargains.

Here are a few tips to help you:

Book as soon as possible and check back to see if prices drop

The Easyjet price promise is a terrific initiative which guarantees that if the cost of the flights falls after your booking they will refund the difference.

Check back on their website from time to time to see if this has happened and you could save a significant amount. The refund will be in the form of an Easyjet refund voucher and you do need to call them to claim.

Martin Lewis over at Money Saving Expert has more great suggestions we recommend you take a look at too.

Don’t carry hard-sided hand luggage

As with many different airlines, Easyjet typically has a strict hand luggage limit of just one item – ensuring that you can only take one small suitcase or handbag, laptop bag etc.

However, there is a loophole to get a second bag on, and it lies in duty-free, post-security shopping. In addition to your standard hand luggage allowance Easyjet allows you to take one duty-free bag on board (see its full baggage policy).

Top Tip – If you think you might be edging towards the maximum hand luggage size it’s worth packing it into a soft-sided bag that will be more flexible and enable you to squash it down if necessary.

Know the best time to book

Easyjet releases their tickets at different times each year:

Travel period: Tickets go on sale:
Up to 28 March 2020 Already on sale
29 March – 30 August 2020 September 2019

By booking as soon as they are released (and making use of the price promise) you are guaranteed the lowest possible fares.

Avoid paying for a good seat by checking in up to 30 days in advance

The earlier you check in the more likely you are to be allocated a decent seat without having to pay for the privilege.

Easyjet allows you to check-in up to 60 days in advance which should give you plenty of time.

Take a packed lunch

The only restrictions on what you can take on board are for liquids so you can plan ahead depending on the time of your flight and take yourself a picnic to save having to pay the airline charges (and eat the airline food).

Most airports have places you can buy a sandwich so you don’t even need to bring anything from home.

Running into trouble

Please Note – If you find that your flight is delayed for a significant period of time (over 3 hours) or the worst-case scenario happens and your flight is cancelled, you may be eligible for compensation. The good news is that this may actually be a substantial amount.
