Fun Summer Activities on a Budget

Summer is going to be here before we know it. Being a Mom of 2, I know firsthand that planning and keeping kids entertained all Summer can be hard. It can be challenging to plan fun activities and do so with a budget.

I’ve put together some Fun Summer Activities to do with your kids. Best part is, they are budget friendly. Don’t forget to add some of these to your summer bucket list.

Movie Night
Put together a movie night with your kids. Let them rent any movie of their choice from a local Red box machine. You can even do a quick search for a Red box Promo code on Google and you might even get a free rental. Need a treat? Popcorn is cheap, and always goes great with a movie.

Get out and Move
Go for a bike ride, or for a hike. There are lots of great places to explore no matter where you are located. On Trails.com you can find loads of hiking and walking paths that might be located near you. Getting out to explore new places is fun for everyone involved.

Sidewalk Chalk Art
Chalk is inexpensive. You can even find it at the Dollar store. Set up a place for you and your kids to create masterpieces. You could come up with fun themes to draw like: Things that fly, things that are green, or things that make you happy. It’s also fun to just let creativity take over and see what everyone can create. Bring out drinks and sunscreen and see what fun creations you can come up with.

Make Your Own Treats
Any treat you make at home is sure to be a hit with the kids. Kids loved to be involved with the making of tasty treats. Making popsicles at home can be a lot of fun. There are loads of recipes online, or try crafting your own. Experiment and try different flavors, let kids give their input and see what they can come up with. Another fun summer treat is homemade ice cream. This has been one of our favorite household activities because the end result never disappoints.

Visit Your Library
Libraries can be a fun activity. Let your kids explore and choose any books or music they want to take home. Most libraries have activities over the summer as well, that are generally free to the public. Check with your local library and see if there are any fun events planned this summer that you don’t want to miss out on.

What activities do you have planned this summer? What are activities you tend to do every year on Summer vacation? Leave us a comment, we’d love to hear about it!
