Disneyland Paris, a Perfect Destination for a Family Mini-Break

Disneyland Paris is the perfect destination for a short break with the family. It’s true what they say, Disneyland is one of the most magical places on Earth, so wrap up warm and throw yourself into the fun. I should know I’ve been many times. It’s not a cheap excursion, though, so it’s wise to plan a little in advance to maximise your trip and truly make the most of your visit. This year they celebrate their 25th Anniversary, so the magic will be even more special.

Getting There From the UK

Travelling on the Eurostar from St Pancras is the most convenient way of getting there. You can be in Disneyland Paris in just under four hours. Upgrade to Standard Premier too if you can. It makes a huge difference to the comfort of your journey, and you get also get a light meal included on your journey.

Activity packs are provided for children’s amusement, and power points are readily available to recharge those games consoles. The Eurostar drops you off right outside the Park too. Save time with the Disney Express Luggage and Advance Check-in service, and go directly to the Parks upon your arrival without having to check-in at your hotel first.

Where To Stay

If your budget permits, I would recommend the 5 Star Disneyland Hotel. This magical hotel is situated right at the gates of the Disneyland Park. Each room is tastefully furnished with private en-suite and two double Queen sized beds, perfect for young families. This hotel also has a range of luxury suites to suit a much bigger budget.

Disney characters frequently visit for autograph signings and character breakfasts. For that ultimate luxury experience, I would suggest upgrading to the Castle Club. Enjoy complimentary teas and coffees, afternoon tea, private breakfast area and an exclusive elevator directly into the park.

The Tickets

The Disneyland fun is spread over two parks; The Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park. Disneyland Paris is running two parks for the price of 1 offer at the moment.

Even though the studio park is smaller, it is still well worth a visit. A lot of the bigger rides are here. Adrenalin junkies will love The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roll Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith and Crush’s Coaster. For the younger visitors visit Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop and RC Racer.

Both parks have regular character parades and a range of non-ride experiences.

Where to Eat

Ok so the food here is expensive, and restaurants get busy, so it’s wise to book. Both parks have a range of fast food outlets for grabbing a quick lunchtime snacks but don’t expect a lot regarding healthy eating choices.

For dinner options, each main hotel has a choice of restaurants. The Disneyland Hotel has two buffet type restaurants at 50E per head. For an equally good evening meal, but with less of a price tag, Disney Village is a short walk away, where the Rainforest Café and Planet Hollywood both serve great family friendly meals. Relax in the Hotel at night with your family in front of a roaring fire and enjoy a crisp cool glass of Chablis.

The Shopping

Ok so if you want gift shopping, take an empty suitcase with you. If you love Disney, it’s a shoppers paradise, clothing, trinkets, dinnerwear, toys, plush toys, OMG you name it they have it.

Disneyland Paris regularly run offers too. Check out Disneyland Paris for the latest deals.
