Get Rid of Bugs with Essential Oils

I hate even thinking about bugs.

My body gave an involuntary shiver just typing the word bugs.

But it’s a reality that sometimes you have to deal with bugs.

I’m not opposed to the traditional bug sprays you find at the store and we do have our house inspected and treated by a professional service regularly.

But, if something a little more natural can work, I’m all for it.

Here are some suggestions for using Essential Oils for bug repellent.

To use: Place a few drops in the sports where you suspect insects are getting into your home, such as any cracks you see. You could also make a diluted spray with 8 oz water and about 10 drops of Essential oils. Spray this around your windows, doors, baseboards, and the dark, damp places insects seem to like, such as under your sink.

If you want a bug spray you can apply to yourself to help keep mosquitoes away, make a solution of 1 oz distilled water, 1 oz witch hazel and 10-20 drops of essential oils.

*I tend to go with small amounts of these sorts of recipes at first, to see how I like them because I don’t want to waste essential oils if it ends up being something I’m not fond of. You can always increase the size of these spray, keeping the same proportions.

You can also try these oil combinations in a diffuser as well.

The suggestions in this post are just that: suggestions. If you have a serious bug problem, you may want to consult a professional service. Personally, I like giving the natural a try and then opt for other solutions if I don’t get the results I want, whether it’s for insect repellents or home cleaners or whatever it may be.
