A Better Disposable Diaper Option

I have to first say that I am a huge fan of cloth diapering.  I have cloth diapered my last three children.  However, I have at times used disposables as well.  With my first child I only used disposables because I didn't really know about cloth.  With my second I started using cloth when he was around a year or so.  My third was only cloth the whole way.  Then with my fourth we started in cloth but ended up using disposables because she ironically had reactions to the fabric in the diapers we used.

Even though I never had any bad issues like some while using disposables,  I prefer cloth for it's benefits of less exposure to chemicals and less environmental impact.  However, I know there are times when cloth is just not feasible for everyone.  Maybe they don't have laundry facilities and there is not a diaper service company near them.  Perhaps they are using a daycare center that just will not accept cloth.  Some may just like the convenience of not having to wash dirty diapers.  Trust me I can understand that one.  I have had more than one in cloth at times and it can be a bit of work to make sure everything is washed, dried and ready to go every day.  I certainly don't judge someone if they choose to use disposables!  We all have to decide what we are comfortable with and what works for our family.

With that all being said I would like to share a more natural option for disposables if you choose to go that route.  This company is fairly new or new to me anyway.  It is called The Honest Company.  The Honest Company is a company striving to offer safer and more natural products for our babies.  Along with diapers they offer other products such as sunscreen, soap and shampoo free of chemicals and artificial ingredients.  Their diapers do not contain any petrochemicals.  They are made of biodegradable materials on the inside and outside which is chlorine free and harvested from sustainably managed forests. They are also classified as cruelty free and vegan.    Did I mention that they also come in adorable prints?  Another feature I like about this company is they market their diapers in monthly bundles.  You subscribe to their site and each month you receive a package.  The package contains diapers for an entire month and four packs of wipes for $84.90.  The number of diapers included is as follows:
Newborn size= 320
Size 1= 300
Size 2= 252
Size 3= 216
Size 4= 186
Size 5=162
Size 6=138
The cost breaks down to $21.22/week.  I was curious what that would compare to other disposable diapers so I did a little cost comparison using Diapers.com since they also offer diapers shipped right to you.  I found that the things I checked against did show a cost savings especially when trying it with the diapers marketed as more "natural".  The Honest company does offer their diapers and wipes for sale without the monthly subscription but it appears you do get a savings with that option.  Currently you can do a trial of a few of their items for only the cost of shipping.  You might want to try that out and see how you like them.  I did find a few bloggers who reviewed them and a few YouTube reviews that seemed to be quite positive on how well the diapers worked.  It looks like a nice step forward in the area of disposables!
