Liberty Humane Society July 4th Pet Adoption

Liberty Humane Society July 4th Pet Adoption

Liberty Humane Society joins national Animal welfare organization Best Friends Animal Society, along with animal rescue groups and shelters across the country, in a “July 4th”– themed animal adoption campaign starting July 1 and running through July 4.

Best Friends Animal Society is the national animal welfare organization dedicated exclusively to ending the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters. A leader in the no-kill movement, Best Friends runs the nation’s largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals, adoption centers and spay and neuter facilities in Los Angeles and Salt Lake City as well as lifesaving programs in partnership with more than 1,600 rescue groups and shelters across the country. Since its founding in 1984, Best Friends has helped reduce the number of animals killed in American shelters from 17 million per year to an estimated 4 million.

As the only  nonprofit animal shelter in Hudson County, Liberty Humane Society provides animal sheltering services and animal control and rescue for Jersey City and Hoboken. With the help of hundreds of active volunteers, LHS staff is dedicated to facilitating the best possible outcomes for the animals in residence at the shelter. The Wellness Clinic provides low-cost health care to help keep local pets in their homes, and adoption counselors place thousands of animals in loving homes annually.

Help the dogs of Liberty in their pursuit of homes and happiness. Liberty Humane Society is dedicated to bringing great families together with shelter pets waiting for their second chance.

On July 1, 2, and 4, all dogs over 40 pounds will be available for the reduced adoption fee of $17.76.

Normally adoption fees range from  $175 for adult dogs ($225 for puppies) to $120 for adult cats ($150 for kittens). All animals adopted from Liberty Humane Society are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before they are sent home. The shelter is open for adoptions Tuesday through Friday from 2 to 7 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm.

When you go be sure to bring the following with you:

  • A photo ID
  • A copy of your lease that shows you can have pets or your landlord’s contact information
  • Members of your household (Including dogs if you already have one)
  • A cat carrier or dog leash and collar (LHS does have these available for purchase if needed)

Not in a position to adopt a pet right now? Simply spread the word about this opportunity, or join the Liberty Humane Society’s compassionate team of volunteers.
