Sometimes it’s okay to inwardly say ‘son, that’s a whole Heap of crap you’ve made there’. They look up to you with their big hopeful eyes, filled with excitement as they give you their offering of pure love and hard work. You say all the right things, ‘”what a little champ” and “oh my goodness, who’s going to be an architect when they’re older!?!?” Or “you didn’t do that on your own?!? did you??? Clever boy” when actually what you’re really thinking is how long is it acceptable to leave 2 empty yogurt pots on the mantel piece and call it art???

The devastating thing is you allow it to collect enough dust on the side that you begin to grow emotionally attached to it and 3 years later it’s still there next to the ‘trolls house’ made out of a tampax box.
