Roamin’ in the Wilds: What is in El Salvador

El Salvador sounds like it has some nice landscape. Maybe I’ll get there some day. Her are some things Roamin around so watch out for any of the entities.

La Llorona – A ghostly Woman who drowned her children after the man she loved chose another woman. She was denied passage into the afterlife because of this and she has to wander along the riverbanks searching for her children to beg their forgiveness.

Justo Juez – Just Judge is a ghost that wanders at night, sometimes on a black horse. He is said to have no head but a column of smoke in place of his head. Those who meet him are said to be told to go back home and if you don’t listen to his warning, you might be whipped.

El Cadejo – This is two large dogs that wander at night. A black one that looks for souls to take and a white one that protects those who wander alone at night.

La Siguanaba – This entity goes by a few names. Sihuanaba, Cigua and Cegua. It refers to a horrible woman previously known as Sihuethuet, which is a ghost to watch out for at night. She appears as a beautiful woman in a sheer white dress with long hair. She preys on those that are unfaithful. To those, she appears to have a bare skull or have a horses head in her true form.

El Cipitio – He is the illegitimate son of Siguanaba. Unlike his mother who must forever wander in her form, he is a jokester sentenced to eternal youth. He is a bit shabby dressed with a big hat and big belly.

El Tabudo – A once wealthy fisherman who was taken by the sea. He reappeared as a being more fish than man with big knobby knees. If he lies you to the middle of the lake, he will turn men into colorful fish and women into sirens.
