More variety, detail, and content is being added to the 2012 version of Focus Home Interactive's aptly named city-building sim, Cities XL, allowing players to build the mega metropolis of their dreams.



Content is key to Cities XL 2012, the development team states, and players will get plenty of it with more than 1,000 unique structures in the game. Those structures can be built on 60 massive maps ranging from such diverse real-world locations as the Cayman Islands and Lake Powell.
"Your cities are now visually richer than ever, with typical buildings from mountain townships or seaside resorts, but also a much bigger variety among all the building types of the game," Focus Home states.

Modding, new building tools, and enhanced sharing options are among the other new options that will allow players to create and share their cities like never before, Focus Home promises.

Cities XL 2012 is set for launch in October for Windows PCs. A full, standalone game, it will also be compatible withe the 2011 version, and owners of Cities XL 2011 can upgrade their game by downloading a special version at a discounted price.
