Do Indian Telecom Operators Fool Subscribers With ‘HIGH’ 4G Speed?

The last few years in India have witnessed giant leap in the Telecom sector. Previously, mobile phones were opportunities for lucky few. Now, the smartphone domain is overcrowded with companies from India and abroad. With the ‘Jio’ revolution it was expected that data connectivity will reach a completely new level in Indian domain. But the 4G reality in India absolutely different.

According to recent OpenSignal report, India Ranks at the 88 in terms of the average download connection speed that users in each country get when they connect to LTE networks. This is indeed alarming for India as India’s 4G speed has appreciably decreased since November last year.

Most, unfortunately, India presently ranks below Indonesia and Algeria. Although India ranks 14th all over the world, as far as 4G connectivity is concerned, the decreasing download speed is indeed a case of great concern. Thus it is quite evident that the available data networks in India do not have the capacity to deliver appreciate the 4G speed, much higher than 3G technologies.

Interestingly, ever since coming to power, the Narendra Modi government has emphasized on digital transformation in all walks of life. Right from Business transactions to different social welfare schemes – the over-dependence on 4G network speed is imminent. Thus the abysmal performance of the 4G network with much-reduced speed is indeed not a blessing for India.

Time and again the big giants of the Telecom domain claim to provide a superfast 4G network in India but reality showcases exactly opposite picture. Thus in best interests of India as a whole, optimum 4G speed is needed in India with consistent performance.
