Sony Pictures has found a director for its Silver Sable and Black Cat film, now known as Silver & Black.
Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Secret Life of Bees) has signed on to direct Silver & Black. The film is currently undergoing a rewrite by Christ Yost (Thor: Ragnarok) and filming is expected to begin some time this fall. With a director now in place, it’s a pretty safe bet we’ll finally see some casting movement on this project.
Silver Sable first appeared in the comics in 1985 and as the head of a company that hunts criminals. Her relationship with Spider-Man – who will more than likely not appear in the film – has been both as enemy and ally.
Black Cat, aka Felicia Hardy, is a burglar who has romantic entanglements with Spider-Man over the years.
How Sony plans to pull this off without Spider-Man is still beyond me, but they’re going for it.
