“ICYMI: From Sixth Grade to Cornell,” originally posted on July 17, is dedicated to the student who believed in me before I even believed in myself as a sixth grade English teacher. He will attend Cornell in the fall.
They simply do not make kids like that anymore. For this student’s unwavering dedication and unrivaled work ethic, I leave him with Maya Angelou’s “Still I Rise.”
