Generally speaking, with Networking equipment, if lights are Flashing then everything is fine.  Also it looks cool.  Right now, as the sun has set and the light is low, my workshop looks good with Flashing Lights on lots of networking stuff.

I think I like flashing lights because, when I was a child, Star Trek would be on TV and the starship Enterprise had lots of flashing lights on the bridge.  I could never work what those lights actually did.  There were hundreds of lights but no labels beside them to tell you what each light was actually for.  Also, you'd think that they could do better than a flashing light if you're able to get a spaceship to work properly.
