Taiwan has quite decent Food. In fact, I argue, their food is better than China in general, i.e, if you walk randomly into a Taiwan restaurant and a China restaurant, chances are you will be more satisfied in Taiwan. 

Compare to Malaysia food, the overall variety is less simply because Malaysia also has Indian and Malay influence. The flavour is less intense. Maybe because of this Taiwanese food is quite refined and they use pretty fresh ingredients as they cannot hide with strong flavour. Whereas in Malaysia, if you are unlucky, you can get pretty bad stuff. Food is also quite affordable in Taiwan.
