Health and Beauty in Heaton and Jesmond

Welcome to Montra!
Health and Beauty is big business, and here in the delightful suburbs of Heaton and Jesmond in Newcastle we have a great selection of options for every kind of treatment to suit all pockets. We are lucky to have first class local services available from some talented beauty professionals. Here are some of the best.
Montra Thai Massage is a brand new business in the heart of Heaton on Chillingham Road. Montra herself is Thai, married to a Neil. a Geordie and worked as a therapist for eleven years in other salons before setting up her own business here. Unique techniques of Thai and Western massage treatments are all on offer in a tranquil atmosphere.
Montra's specialist therapists have all been trained in Thailand and bring with them many years of experience.

I tried a Thai massage at Montra, and found it very good indeed. As well as being generally relaxing, massage can help you unwind, improve circulation, tone your skin and help to eliminate toxins.
Montra also offer sports massages, Swedish massages and hot stone massages too. Or you can try a four hand massage, or maybe a couples massage with your partner. Check out their website here for the full menu of treatments and price list. Montra Thai Massage

By contrast  Jesmond Beauty Clinic on Clayton Road is a well established family run business which has been open for over 20 years. There are more than a dozen highly skilled therapists offering a wide range of treatments, many of whom have been with the company for years.
There are ten beautiful treatment rooms which can be found over three floors, including a spray tanning room and 2 special double treatment rooms where you can share pampering experience with a friend or partner. The ground floor is a lovely shopping area where you can purchase top of the range skin care products like a Decleor and nice cards and gifts.

I tried a TriLipo facial treatment with the lovely Kirsty, which is a medically proven procedure to tighten the skin and help to hold back the signs of ageing. The process uses Radio-Frequency energy which heats up the collagen fibres and causes them to contract. Stimulating the production of new collagen gives the skin more firmness and flexibility which naturally tends to decrease over time. I could see some minor improvements just from my one treatment but I'm sure there would be an even better effect if you were to have the full course. You can also have this treatment on the body and it reduces fat cells and can tackle stubborn cellulite, sculpting your body leading to measurable inch loss. Check out the range of treatments available here Jesmond Beauty Clinic.

Jala Therapies in Jesmond is run by Michelle Blake who has her salon offering treatments originating from Asia, in part of the Jesmond Community Swimming Pool. Originally a council facility due to be closed, it is now run as award winning social enterprise.

A thriving clientele can swim, use the gym, attend yoga and pilates classes and Jala therapies adds to that range of opportunities.
Michelle specialises in Ayurveda massage and I tried one of her signature treatments, an Ayurveda Marma Massage. This massage focuses on trying to get your body back in balance as sometimes an accumulation of stress can obstruct the flow of energy. The treatment focuses on the marma (acupressure) points within the body constitution (dosha) and leaves you feeling harmonised and rejuvenated.

Michelle also practises reflexology, head and facial massage, massages for mums to be, babies and physiotherapy for sports injuries. I was given a questionnaire to try and diagnose what my dosha actually was - Vata, Pitta or Kapha - but I seemed to be a bit of everything.  I also liked the sound of the organics signature treatment using mandarin and frankincense Neal's Yard products, maybe next time.. Bailey's Beauty lounge is run by Rima Bailey and her team in Heaton. This is a very friendly nail and beauty salon where there's always a cuppa on the go, and you are even welcome to bring your pets along with you! Local customers call in for a chat as well as treatments and Rima specialises in nail techniques.

She loves getting creative, and I was persuaded to have some bejewelled toe nails which I absolutely love. I was also very taken with Bilbo the pug/shitsu cross puppy who fell asleep on my lap as I had my toenails glammed up for Autumn.
Russian lashes, eyebrow shaping, facials and massages are all also on offer so why not call into Chillingham Road, have a cuppa and get your nails done, for a very reasoanable price. And if you are very lucky you may get a puppy to cuddle too! Check out what's on offer here Bailey's Beauty Lounge
